| I still have not yet seen one person chime in that has over 60 k on a built motor with the exclusion of you supposedly and sorry but I cant take your word for it is biased. Understood. You also have to realize that only a small percentage of people read the forum on a daily basis and then a lot of people with 300zx's aren't even on the forum. Then on top of that you have to understand that most people with "built" cars don't drive them daily so getting some one who reads the forum daily and has a lot of mileage to chime in may be hard to do. Then remember you will hear way more bad stories then good stories when talking about something like this. Just because you have heard several bad stories doesn't mean there aren't 10x that with perfectly running cars that don't post up just to say "my car runs great today". As far as your last staement is concerned, And believe me I didnt want to go here but here ya go. You built 100's if not 1000's of motors you say. Unfortunately, the place you have built them from for the last 8 out of 11 yrs is one of the main culprits. So excuse me if you are telling me you've built many motors. The ones that you supposedly built were half of the problem a couple years ago. Fair enough. Lets say for arguments sake that in the last 10 years I have built 500 motors. Show me more then 50 that have failed to date. Of course I am asking for failures strictly related to it being a built motor and/or bad machining. I would think a 10% in 10 years time is not a bad average since you were stating 35% Here Now with that said I will comment on this also: "I should say however, it seems as though your motors have not had many issues from what I have seen and heard which is a good thing from IPP." Since leaving SGP I have made MAJOR changes in the way I handle built motors which I think is why I have done as well as I have so far. A few changes I made: All motors are hand delivered to the machine shop by me personally and I talk directly to the machine shop owner as to what the motor is getting done. Each motor is stamped with a number so nothing gets misplaced or exchanged. This way I know exactly which motor is getting done and exactly what is done to it. Both the machine shop owner and myself have detailed lists of all parts and instructions of what is to be done to each motor which matches the numbered motor. All parts are numbered and have the customers name to match the motor. I now have all the cranks completely cleaned and all oil galley plugs removed during the cleaning(this was not done to Maglito's crank from SGP and was thought to be the reason for failure). After all machine work is done I personally pick up the motor from the machine shop and go over the build with the owner to confirm all things were done and completed with no complications. So hopefully with all the changes I have made after leaving SGP I will continue to have a successful engine building service. Plus I think I have shown I will go up and beyond to provide excellent customer service if or when any problem does arise. Also just out of morbid curiosity is Rob's(rcr2fst) car still running? He has had his motor for well over 2 years now correct? Shouldn't he have some decent mileage??
